You Can Look Like L.C.

Apparently Davis-Kidd last was all abuzz last week when L.C., aka Lauren Conrad, came to sign her book L.A. Candy.  Didn't even know she was here.  She's been looking remarkably cute for this book tour, that's for sure.  Not that she doesn't always, but I can hear the conversation between her and her stylist in my head now:

LC:  Can't I just wear maxi dresses and sandals?
LC's stylist:  No, you wrote a book, you have to look like you're an author.
LC:  But I am an author.
LC's stylist:  Really?!  I mean, yes, you are an author.  So you should look like one.

What they've opted to do is still put her in clothes that are young and fresh, but that also look professional and grown-up at the same time.  I like it.  And I so wish I could wear my hair that effortlessly in those Princess Leia side braids.  Well, and let's be honest, my liquid liner never looks that good.

My point here is that I found some shorts that look exactly like the ones she wore at Barnes and Noble in NYC last week--sort of silky and dressy and just comfy-looking.  Get yourself some bronzing lotion and these shorts at Express for 20% off of $19.99 and you're half-way to being an author yourself.

I couldn't find a great pic of these on-line, but these are similar
and the same price.

If You're Gonna Cheat

A pretty good example of a celebrity look for less HERE

I love my loyal blog readers.  Mind you, y'all could stand to comment a little more so people would know that you are out there and you DO actually read it.  But, moooooving on.  I realize that I'm not a super frequent poster.  So, you're gonna somtimes need to go elsewhere to get your blog needs met.  I get it.  So, with that in mind, here's a great blog I found to get celebrity looks for less.  A disclaimer:  you and I both know everything from places like Forever 21 and Target certainly does not look like Dolce and Gabbana or Zac Posen, but you could get some good ideas for sure.

I've Been Loving...

Picture from celebuzz.com
Clearly from our dress choice for Julianne, I've been loving some ruffles.  She sorta has that personality, the "ruffley" kind of personality, I guess.  The opposite of that would be Zooey Deschanel's character in "Elf."  She probably wouldn't wear ruffles.  She's a little too cynical. All that to say, ruffles aren't for everyone.  But I love 'em, and here are some pieces that I like that are ruffley.

The Hunter Dixon version of this is much cuter, but who would ever pay $312 for a neon yellow/green skirt?  Well, not me.  So, this will have to work on twelvebytwelve.com, $24

This Express dress needs a more exciting belt, but I like the idea.  $69.50

Anthropologie top, $58, in a color called "brewed bean shell" (what the??!)

Some shopping notes...Ruffles are great on bottom if you have more of a boyish figure, because they will give you the illusion of curves.  If you already have the illusion of curves because you actually have curves, then stick to ruffles on top.

Whitney Duncan "Skinny Dippin'" Video

Hi guys, last week I worked on Whitney Duncan's video for "Skinny Dippin'", and it was SUPER FUN. It was my first time to work with Roman White, who has directed a lot of Carrie Underwood's best videos, and he is an absolute riot, and very talented. It was also my first time to work with an actual super model. The hunk in the video is Cory Bond, who you may recognize from ads for Guess, Dolce and Gabbana, and Calvin Klein. It kinda made you wanna throw up in your mouth a little bit--those two lying on a picnic blanket, feeding each other grapes. Geez.

I'll let ya know when the vid comes out, but for now, check out the behind-the-scenes look and note my masterful work at choosing the perfect white bikini.

I'm So 2000 and Late

Apparently, unlike Fergie, I don't have that boom-boom-pow because I am about two weeks late letting you know that Cosmetic Market has opened a store in Hillsboro Village.  Why do we love Cosmetic Market?  Because your money stays in Middle Tennessee when you shop there!  Locally owned and operated, and I think the gals are much more knowledgeable than at Sephora.  While you're there, Posh opened a Home store next door.  Haven't been in yet, but it sure looks cool as I'm speeding by to my next stop.

Deal of the Day

You all know that I've never hidden my love for Two Elle. It's my favorite!  Well, this blog about 2L is two-fold:  1) Our deal of the day is this very cute dress by Hazel marked down from $88 to $29.99.  This would be one sweet swimsuit cover-up or is just adorable as is.

2) 2L is MOVING!  I must say that I am sad about this. Being a resident of 12South, it pains me to see them leave the little house beside Trim; however, they're moving to the Hill Center, which means they'll probably be around longer 'cuz they'll make more money.  Yay!! I've made my peace with it.  Because they're moving though, they have a TON of stuff on sale.  Stop by!  Tell the gals I said 'hi'!
