Deal of the Day--Sex and the City

As many of you gals know, "Sex and the City" the movie comes out this weekend. Well, I had a little pre-party at mi casa last night where we drank cosmos, ate fatty cheese and crackers, and watched the last two episodes to get ready for May 30. Since I had already invited 15 girls over and boneheadedly deleted the last two episodes that I had been saving for weeks on my DVR, and Netflix Season 6: Disc 3 is just "bonus materials"...son-of-a...I thought about going and scouring the greater Nashville area Blockbusters for the last season. I thought the safer bet would be to head to Target and just buy it. Little did I know that there was my deal of the day (granted I might have found more deals in the clothing section, but I didn't allow myself within 30 ft. of that area yesterday.) If you buy any of the seasons of SatC, you get a FREE MOVIE TICKET redeemable at any theater for up to $10.50. Sweet! I bought Part III of Season 6 for $17.99. So, $17.99 minus my movie ticket, now a whopping $9.50 = good deal. And I'm going to see the movie this weekend anyway. Yay!

Building 429

Had a great shoot last week with Building 429. They are fun guys to dress because they really trust me. It always feels good when people actually let you do what you get paid to do. Tec Petaja did the shoot; here's Tec shooting Jesse for one of his individual shots. I should also mention that Jesse was wearing an awesome pair of Projek Raw jeans from Posh that were $78. They were super-light for such a dark jean, a great straight leg, and he loved 'em. Of course, they are $90 on this site, but you get the picture--they're nice men's jeans that fit well for under $100.

Deal of the Day + a Free Soapbox

I almost had a stroke today. As in, one side of my body almost wouldn't function because I finally let myself go into UAL--United Apparel Liquidators. We had one in the old BR when I was in college, but back then I was too unschooled in the ways of designer fashion to realize the kinds of deals that were right in front of my eyes. The location off West End right beside Nashville Clothing Co. is all that I had hoped it would be. Here are just a sampling of the deals...like I said I was in the middle of almost having a stroke, my eyes were hazy, and I felt drunk with the deals, so I probably missed some. Serfontaine and Genetic Denim for $39.99, Velvet tees for $9.99-$19.99, Marni, Thakoon, Sanctuary pants for $19.99, Joie, Betsy Johnson dresses for $49.99, Elijah dresses for $49.99, a common thread skirts for $9.99, Rozae Nichols, and this is just to name a few. Who ever needs to go to TJMaxx again? Oh Lord help me...and my bank account...and my sweet husband...

But here is the deal of the day, if I could even narrow it down. Nation tee shirts for $9.99. If you've never heard of Nation, well, they're awesome--perfectly worn in, pre-washed so they don't shrink or fade, great material so they don't get all stretched out, and comfortable as heck. I bought two today, and here's one of them. (I'm already wearing the perfect white crew neck.) By the way, these suckers retail for upwards of $60, just for a crew neck. That's how good they are. Call me if you wanna try mine on since you can't feel the softness through the blog.

You can continue reading if you wanna hear my soapbox about how you shouldn't buy t-shirts from Target.....still there? Okay, well, you shouldn't buy t-shirts that you are gonna wear everyday at places like Wal-Mart, Target, and Old Navy. They kinda suck, if I can just be honest. The thing that I think is the worst is that they usually stretch out like a mother, and then it looks like you're wearing your brother's shirt. Not cute. If you are gonna be layering a tank under 4 outfits a week and throwing on a v-neck everytime you run to the grocery, it needs to be made well. So, here are a few of my favorite brands. These are the ones you need to be looking for at TJMaxx, Marshall's, on Ebay, etc. American Apparel (the perfect track shirt), Alternative Apparel (the perfect blackish layering tank), T-Luxury, Zooey, Nation (see above), Splendid, Graham and Spencer, Velvet...there're lots more out there, but here are just a few to get you started. It's gonna hurt paying $30 or more for a tank, but when you realize you can wear it about 14 times before you have to "wash it to shrink it back up" you will remember why you paid for it.

Amber, I'm a Grown-up.

I know that you're a grown-up. And so am I, but I freaking love the boy shorts at American Eagle. (They are currently on sale 8 for $25.) Of course, when I actually go in the store, I bring the average age of the customers up to about 13.5. You could still do that, of course, but why not just order on-line? These are literally my favorite underwear in the world, and I never would have tried them if not for my friend Ashley Hawthorne in Baton Rouge. Now I'm a believer.

You're gonna need to go up a size though. They're built for the aforementioned 12-year olds. Yeah, we're not really the demographic, what with the having hips and all. And maybe steer clear of the undies with the "I'm a hottie" on the butt.

I'm Trying to Cut Back

But the word on the street is that Anthropologie is having one of their huge sales right now. You won't see me there because see subject line. Who am I kidding?! Gah, I love sales like a fat kid love cake.

I'm Sure You've Already Heard This...

Urban Outfitters is finally coming to Nashville. I mean, Baton Rouge got one first! That is re-DONKS. Check out all the details here. Hopefully they'll work out some decent parking to go with it.

Go International

Target's newest GO International collection just arrived--Rogan. It's cool in a safari-kind-of way, but not as cool as the Jovovich-Hawk stuff that is now on sale. Look for the 30-50% off racks in the back. All the cute little peasant tops and neon dresses are now considerably marked down.

CMT Gone Country 2

Like I told my friend Shannon, I was one step removed from "Rhythm Nation 1814" on Monday. I met Jermaine Jackson, who was clearly still holding on with a death grip to the Jackson 5 days as evidenced by the puff-painted jeans he was wearing with all their names emblazoned on it. Seriously, I met someone who has Michael Jackson on speed-dial. One disturbing thing someone on the shoot told me is that they had heard that one of the other Jacksons, Marlin, is now working at a grocery store. Maybe he just really likes those thunderstorm sprinklers in the produce section...I know I do.
All in all, the cast includes Sean Young (Lt. Lois Einhorn/Ray Finkel from Ace Ventura), Jermaine-bottom, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row)-top, Lorenzo Lamas (Falcon Crest, oh yeah)-middle, Mikalah Gordon (American Idol season I'm-not-sure-but-she-didn't-win), John Rich, and Chris Kirkpatrick from NSYNC.
Here are a couple other shots including one of Jeremy Cowart in his new favorite piece of gear, the rolling chair, and my assistant Carrie Morgan getting her hair trimmed by Robin Geary, hair and makeup guru, during some downtime.
And I couldn't resist this last one...just for kicks...holy crap.

Coolest Pen Ever

So for all the people who've asked me where I got my cool lipstick pen.  Okay, for the one person who asked me where I got my lipstick pen...I found it!!!  I got mine for free at a boutique in Charleston, and I use it all the time.  It's the perfect size to fit into the cell phone pocket of my purse right beside my antique, rotary cell phone.  Anywho, I was starting to stress about getting a refill for it...it's not like I can just walk into my local Staples..."Hi, I'm here for a lipstick pen refill."  "Your pen doubles as lipstick?"  "No, it looks like lipstick, but it's a pen.  And I need a refill."  "Wait, so you need more lipstick?"  "No, I need more ink for my LIPSTICK PEN!"  Now I can just go to fredflare.com and order them in bulk.  You can get one too!  There's lots of other sweet, funky stuff on that site too, like a Rubik's cube clock.  And these band-aids that look like bacon!  It probably makes your bo-bo feel better.  Everything's better with bacon, right?

$1 for Makeup!? Say It Ain't So!

This was forwarded to me by my friend Emily:
"Apparently the make-up line E.L.F. ( Eyes, Lips, and Face) has been bought out by Nordstrom and will be re-packaged with the Nordstrom name on it. They are getting rid of all the make-up in ELF packaging. They are selling everything for $1. Yes--one dollar!! You do have to pay shipping, however.

They have powder, mascara, brushes, nail polish, you name it...Just thought I'd pass along the good deal. Oh, if you use the coupon code "CAROLINA" you will get $7.50 off your first $15 purchase."

Here is the site--have fun!
